The first trailer for the highly anticipated Guy Ritchie "Sherlock Holmes" film has just been released. The movie stars Robert Downey, Jr. as the famous character and Jude Law as his reliable sidekick, Dr. John Watson. The film takes place in 1891 and it follows Holmes and Watson as they uncover a conspiracy about the destruction of Britain. In the film, Holmes will take part in many fight scenes using the eclectic martial arts and self-defense method known as "Bartitsu", which were mentioned in the short story "The Adventure of the Empty House". For the part, Downey lost weight and thought that 1992's "Chaplin" had prepared him for the English accent. Rachel McAdams will co-star as Holmes' love interest, Irene Adler, who had once outwitted him and gained his respect. The film has been slated to hit theaters Christmas Day 2009. View trailer here
