The Proposal: In Theaters 6.19.2009


"The Proposal", a romantic comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, was released on June 19, 2009. Sandra Bullock plays Margaret Tate who is a hard working executive editor-in-chief of a successful publishing company and Reynolds plays Andrew Paxton, Tate's assistant who goes through hell to please his seemingly heartless boss. Everything changes when she is going to be deported back to her home country of Canada due to the expiration of her visa and in an act of panic convinces Andrew to pose as her fiance. She convinces him by offering him a promotion and to publish his manuscript. After that we are whisked away to Sitka, Alaska in efforts to sell the lie by meeting Andrew's family. His parents are played by Craig T. Nelson and Mary Steenburgen, also the delightful Betty White plays Andrew's Gammy. White brings her usual humor and is absolutely hilarious in the film. This movie is like "The Devil Wears Prada"-meets-"How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days"-meets-"The Notebook", "The Devil Wears Prada" parts are in the beginning, where she almost matches the same ruthlessness as Meryl Streep's character. "The Proposal" gets 3 1/2 wheelchairs out of 5.

The Road: Upcoming 10.16.2009


"The Road" will become the third Cormac McCarthy novel made into a major motion picture, the others being "All the Pretty Horses" and "No Country for Old Men". The film tells the story of a father and son trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. The movie stars Viggo Mortensen as the father, who best known for his role of Aragorn in the "Lord of the Rings" films. Other cast members include Charlize Theron as the mother, Guy Pearce, and Robert Duvall. The film does a great job of showing the will of a human being. The music for the film was composed and organized by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds members, Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. The movie is due out in theaters on October 16, 2009. View Trailer Here

NEW!!: Shutter Island Trailer: Upcoming 10.2.2009


The first trailer for "Shutter Island" has just recently been released. This film is the fourth collaboration between director Martin Scorcese and star Leonardo DiCaprio. The movie is based on the novel by Dennis Lehane, who also wrote other best-selling novels like "Gone Baby Gone" and "Mystic River", not to mention was a staff writer for the hit HBO show, "The Wire". The film follows two U.S. Marshals who are sent to a psychiatric hospital on an island in Massachusetts to find a patient who has recently disappeared. After investigating the hospital, they discovered many ugly truths about the facility. Leonardo DiCaprio plays one of the marshals, while the other marshal is played by Mark Ruffalo. The film also features Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley, Jackie Earle Haley, and Michelle Williams. The film is scheduled for an October 2, 2009 release date. View Trailer Here

Invictus: Upcoming 12.11.2009


"Invictus" is an upcoming Clint Eastwood film that stars Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon. The movie follows the rise of Nelson Mandela (Freeman) and how the 1995 Rugby World Cup propelled South Africa to become unified as a country. Matt Damon will play Francois Pienaar, the captain of the South Africa team, who led them to their improbable championship over heavily favored New Zealand. The film will show the end of apartheid, Mandela's release from prison, and him becoming president. In 1992's "The Power of One", Freeman played a South African prisoner, that shows he can handle the accent. This is Matt Damon's first go around with Clint Eastwood and it is the third go around for Morgan Freeman, Eastwood previously directed Freeman in "Unforgiven" and "Million Dollar Baby". The film is based upon the book "Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Changed a Nation" by John Carlin and was adapted by Anthony Peckham, who also wrote the upcoming "Sherlock Holmes" movie that will star Robert Downey, Jr. "Invictus" will be in theaters on December 11, 2009. The Hangover: In Theaters 6.5.2009


"The Hangover" is an outrageously destructive comedy starring a great cast that includes Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, and Heather Graham. The film was directed by acclaim comedy director Todd Phillips, who brought you comedies like "Borat", "Old School" and "Starsky & Hutch". The movie chronicles a bachelor party for Doug (Justin Bartha) that goes horribly wrong when he disappears the next morning. After his 3 friends wake up and can't remember a thing, they have to play detective to find Doug and everything that ensues is utterly hilarious. "Into the Wild" actor Zach Galifianakis really shines as Alan, the groom's soon to be crazy funny brother-in-law. The movie also features Ken Jeong, who played the doctor from "Knocked Up" and King Argotron in "Role Models". This film will make you laugh in every scene and after the movie you will be barking out lines all day. "The Hangover" gets 4 wheelchairs out of 5, classic. View Trailer Here

NEW!!: Spider-Man 4 Poster: Upcoming 5.6.2011


The first film poster of "Spider-Man 4" was just released at the 2009 Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada. The film is currently in pre-production with Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire signed on to direct and star respectively. The movie will be written by "Zodiac" writer James Vanderbilt and "Robots" writer David Lindsay-Abaire, but they are still discussing the villian. Carnage, the Lizard, Kraven the Hunter, and Morbius are all being rumored to be possible villians. Kirsten Dunst has expressed interest to return as Mary Jane Watson. The film is currently looking at a May 6, 2011 release date and a possible fifth film in the works.

Moon: Upcoming 7.17.2009


"Moon" is a science fiction film starring Sam Rockwell and Kevin Spacey that is due out in theaters July 17, 2009. David Bowie's son Duncan Jones co-wrote and directed it, making his feature film debut in the process. In the movie, Earth is going through an energy crisis so they send Sam Bell to the moon, an employee from the company Lunar to mine for the natural gas Helium 3. Rockwell plays Bell, while Kevin Spacey voices Gerty, a robot who accompanies Sam for his three-year assignment to space. The film premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival in January and received rave reviews from critics. View Trailer Here

(500) Days of Summer: Upcoming 7.17.2009


"(500) Days of Summer" is an upcoming romantic comedy whose original release date of August 24, 2009 has been pushed up to July 17, 2009. The film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Tom a hopeless romantic who falls for Summer, a woman who doesn't believe in true love. Summer is played by "Elf" and "The Happening" star Zooey Deschanel, who previously worked with Gordon-Levitt in the indie film, "Manic". The movie spans 500 days and follows them through the course of their relationship. The movie was directed by first timer Marc Webb and produced by Mark Waters, who directed such comedies as "Head Over Heels" and "Mean Girls". View trailer here

Shantaram: Upcoming 2011


A film adaptation of author Gregory David Roberts' "Shantaram" is currently in development and will be released sometime in 2011. The novel follows an Austrailian bank robber addicted to heroin who is later convicted and sent to Pentridge prison. He then escapes from the prison in broad daylight and flees to India, where he stays in hiding for 10 years. Johnny Depp, who loves the book, is currently attached to play the lead, with Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan portraying an Indian mobster. The film is going to be written by "Forrest Gump", "Munich", and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" writer Eric Roth and Indian director, Mira Nair signed on to direct. She has also directed 2004's "Vanity Fair" and upcoming 2009 films, "New York, I Love You" and "Amelia", a biopic about the life of Amelia Earhart starring Hillary Swank, Richard Gere, and Ewan McGregor.
