The Men Who Stare at Goats: In Theaters 11.6.2009

"The Men Who Stare at Goats" is a dark comedy that stars Academy Award winner George Clooney and Ewan McGregor. McGregor plays Bob Wilton, a reporter who stumbles into the story of a lifetime when he meets special forces agent, Lyn Cassady (George Clooney) in Kuwait City, Kuwait. On their way to Iraq, Lyn reveals to Bob that he has been involved for the past 20 years in a top secret unit within the American military known as the New Earth Army, The main purpose of the army is to develop mind-control powers for psychic spying, the spies are known as Jedi Warriors. The films shows the New Earth Army in a series of utterly hilarious flashback scenes. The film's cast was simple remarkable, they all brought something different and unique to the movie. Cassady is by far George Clooney's funniest role to date. Other cast members include Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges. Spacey plays Larry Hooper, a psychic soldier and enemy to Lyn, this is first movie in which I've hated a character played by Kevin Spacey. Jeff Bridges plays the founder of the psychic program and mentor to Lyn, Bill Django, he is mostly shown in the flashbacks. Bridges hasn't made me laugh so hard since his character "The Dude" in 1998's "The Big Lebowski". Robert Patrick, Stephen Lang, and Stephen Root co-star in the film as well, Root's scene was short but it was great. The film is based the 2004 novel of the same name written by Jon Ronson. The movie was directed by "Good Night, and Good Luck" co-writer and producer Grant Heslov. My favorite part of the film were the scenes with McGregor and Clooney. "The Men Who Stare at Goats" receives a solid 4 wheelchairs out of 5. View Trailer Here
