"The Proposal", a romantic comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, was released on June 19, 2009. Sandra Bullock plays Margaret Tate who is a hard working executive editor-in-chief of a successful publishing company and Reynolds plays Andrew Paxton, Tate's assistant who goes through hell to please his seemingly heartless boss. Everything changes when she is going to be deported back to her home country of Canada due to the expiration of her visa and in an act of panic convinces Andrew to pose as her fiance. She convinces him by offering him a promotion and to publish his manuscript. After that we are whisked away to Sitka, Alaska in efforts to sell the lie by meeting Andrew's family. His parents are played by Craig T. Nelson and Mary Steenburgen, also the delightful Betty White plays Andrew's Gammy. White brings her usual humor and is absolutely hilarious in the film. This movie is like "The Devil Wears Prada"-meets-"How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days"-meets-"The Notebook", "The Devil Wears Prada" parts are in the beginning, where she almost matches the same ruthlessness as Meryl Streep's character. "The Proposal" gets 3 1/2 wheelchairs out of 5.
