The Informant!: Upcoming 9.18.2009
"The Informant!" is an upcoming comedy film based on the 2000 non-fiction book by Kurt Eichenwald. "The Informant!" follows Archer Daniels Midland executive Mark Whitarce, who in the early 1990s blew the whistle on the company's price-fixing tactics. In 1992 Whitarce confessed to the FBI that he and other executives had routinely met with competitors to fix the price of lysine, a food additive. Whitarce secretly gathered hundreds of hours of video and audio over the next 3 years. He also assisted in getting evidence by taping the cartel's illegal activity in business meetings at various locations around the world such as Tokyo, Paris, Mexico City, and Hong Kong. During Whitarce's undercover work he displayed bizarre behavior that includes recklessness and stupidity. Matt Damon gained 30 pounds to portray the bipolar whistleblower, Scott Bakula and Joel McHale co-star as FBI agents. The film was written by "Bourne Ultimatum" co-writer Scott Z. Burns and directed by Academy Award winner Steven Soderbergh. Soderbergh previously directed Damon in "Ocean's Eleven", "Twelve", and "Thirteen". The movie will be released in theaters on September 18, 2009. View Trailer Here
